A Knit Above the Rest: Caring for Your Knitwear

A Knit Above the Rest: Caring for Your Knitwear

A staple of your chilly season wardrobe, these classic pieces are an essential investment. It will keep you feeling comfortable all day long. Of course, if you want your knitwear to take care of you, you’ll need to take care of it.
To keep them looking and feeling great season after season, here's our expert guide on how to care for your knitwear.
1 | Pay attention to storage - To keep your knitwear looking fresh and in-shape year after year, we recommend storing it in a drawer or cupboard. Avoid hanging your cardigan or sweater on a hanger. This will result in the fabric stretching over time. Always fold instead.
2 | Don’t be afraid to shave your knitwear (yes, shave) - Bobbling is the result of two pieces of fabric rubbing together over time (under your arms for instance) and can also occur with washing.
3 | Wash smart - Wash your sweater regularly. Machine washing is fine, just ensure that it’s at 30 degrees maximum on the hand wash setting – and always wash coloured items separately.
4 | Dry flat - The drying process is integral to maintaining the shape and integrity of your knits. After washing dry your sweater flat. Stretch it out slightly and weigh down the edges if necessary. This is to maintain the shape. Never twist or rub the cashmere. If you need to remove excess water scrunch the sweater into a ball and squish it between your hands, do not wring.
5 | Rotate your sweaters - Give your jumpers a few days between each wear, excess wear will cause it too lose shape. Spread the love across your knits!
